Valmont Industries Medium Voltage Loop Upgrade

The Valmont Industries medium voltage loop upgrade project was a replacement project to the campuses existing 15KV power distribution system. We were the prime contractor and it required large concrete equipment foundations, dewatering for 18 new manholes, over 2 mile long duct bank around the campus, and a new fiber optic backbone. 8 new distribution switches were set to feed the existing 33 buildings on the campus. This is a smart loop as there are 2 utility circuits feeding it and the switches will automatically open and close if there is an issue with the loop at any one point so the campus never experiences power disruption.
